Be Safe with High Visibility Clothing

Hi vis clothing comes in many forms and at Hi-VisApparel.com we strive to bring you everything you need. Hi vis clothing can be any “Bright” color usually orange or a green/yellow. We have also made bright blue and even pink high visibility shirts.

ANSI “Class 1” hi vis clothing is intended for workers who have ample separation from vehicular traffic that does not exceed 25 mph. Class 1 hi vis clothing is recommended for parking service attendants, workers in warehouses with equipment traffic, shopping cart retrievers, sidewalk maintenance workers and delivery vehicle drivers.

ANSI “Class 2” construction vest are the most commonly requested hi vis clothing. These high visibility construction vests must have a minimum amount of an approved hi-vis cloth and reflective striping. The layout and reflective properties of this construction vest must meet strict ANSI standards. Class II hi vis clothing is for users who need greater visibility in poor weather conditions and whose activities occur near roadways where traffic speeds exceed 25 mph. This class of hi vis clothing is suitable for railway workers, school crossing guards, parking and toll gate personnel, airport ground crews and law enforcement personnel directing traffic.

ANSI “Class 3” is the next step in hi vis clothing. Class 3 construction vest require a minimum amount of an approved hi-vis cloth and more reflective striping than a Class 2 construction vest. The layout and reflective properties of the construction vest must meet strict ANSI standards. Class III hi vis clothing provides the highest level of visibility to workers in high-risk environments that involve high task loads, a wide range of weather conditions and traffic exceeding 50 mph. Class III garments provide coverage to the arms and/or legs as well as the torso, and can include hi vis shirts, construction vest, pants, jackets, coveralls or rain wear. The standard recommends using a construction vest for all roadway construction personnel and vehicle operators, utility workers, survey crews, emergency responders, railway workers and accident site investigators.
